Every coach must know how to effectively execute offensively against the zone defense. Coach Welsh of Providence College, who has achieved more than 170 wins in nine seasons as a head collegiate coach, teaches how to succeed against the zone by attacking the defense. Using on-court demonstrators, Welsh shares the principles, drills and offensive sets and plays to attack the zone from the point, wing, middle and baseline. Emphasizing attacking the gaps, along with player and ball movement, Welsh shares three offensive sets (3-2 motion, 1-2-2 and 2-3 low) and six set plays with multiple options to breakdown the 2-3 zone and 1-3-1 zone defense. He teaches how to instruct players to make offensive decisions by reading the defense, and how, where, and when to best attack the zone.
